In 1926, G.E. Evans founded a private practice engineering and surveying firm. In 1949, W.H. Mechwart joined Mr. Evans and they continued successful operation under the name Evans and Mechwart. With the addition of two new partners in 1954, the firm became Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, which remains our name to this day.
The tradition for quality work that began in 1926 continues today. Our firm carries a timeless attitude for excellence utilizing more than over 400 professional and technical personnel and 20+ land survey crews. We offer an extensive array of services including civil engineering, land surveying, environmental management, landscape architecture and land planning. EMH&T is proud of its diversity with engineers registered to practice in the states of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. EMH&T completes its diversity with branch offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; and in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Our President and Managing Partner guide the direction of the firm with their service oriented, conservative approach, which assures long-term stability while allowing for steady and controlled growth. Assisting these EMH&T leaders in the daily operation of the various departments and operating units of the firm are 4 Vice Presidents, 5 Principals and 24 Associates.
Over the past five years, the leadership of our President Nelson E. Kohman, PE and Managing Partner Gregory B. Comfort, PE has resulted in the firm’s steady but exceptional growth, from 250 employees to over 400. EMH&T has been ranked number one by Business First Magazine of Columbus for the past four years and has consistently been ranked in the top three.
