Our History
EMH&T celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2006.
EMH&T was originally founded in 1926 by Gordon Evans as a surveying business in Gahanna, Ohio. In 1950, Wilbur Mechwart joined Evans and was responsible for laying out subdivisions. Evans and Mechwart continued to conduct business in the Sandusky Street residence until July of 1955 when Wallace Hambleton and John Tilton joined the firm and the partnership of four became officially known as Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton.
With the addition of Hambleton and Tilton came the construction of the office located at 170 Mill Street in Gahanna where the firm resided and grew until 2005. By that time, the four-man firm had grown to more than 400 and the single office building (along with 9 others) could no longer house the entire team. EMH&T moved to its brand new facility in the City of Columbus, New Albany Business Park in September 2005.
