Neil Avenue Corridor/12th Avenue Improvements
The Ohio State University, Columbus, OhioThis project consisted of full-depth replacement of pavement and widening of 12th Avenue near The Ohio State University Medical Center, which is approximately one-half mile of urban street improvements. The project limits were along 12th Avenue from Cannon Drive to Neil Avenue, and along Neil Avenue from 11th Avenue to South Oval Drive. Improvements included a curbed section, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewer separation, decorative lighting, traffic signal installations, ADA ramps and parking garage entrance modifications. The hospital’s proximity and the multitude of existing utilities in the area required detailed coordination. EMH&T executed the relocation and consolidation of utilities within a dedicated corridor without interrupting service. With our in-house resources, EMH&T adhered to the very fast track schedule requiring less than three months from conception to final plans, including three one-week plan review periods. The project kickoff meeting was held September 19, 2003 and final construction plans with bid documents were submitted on December 17, 2003. The bid opening was on January 23, 2004 and the project was awarded for construction on March 23, 2004. The Ohio State University provided EMH&T with a letter of commendation for the prompt and high quality engineering products and services we provided.
