Rockwell District in Whitehall, Ohio
EMH&T designed all of the infrastructure and site work for the Rockwell District in Whitehall, Ohio. This mixed-use project totaling over $350 million in private and public investment is a true public-private partnership for the redevelopment in this part of the City that at one time was a dilapidated and condemned former condominium site. The project is the largest urban redevelopment project in the City of Whitehall’s history, and the largest redevelopment project located in a Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) in the country.
The redevelopment will create approximately 1,000 permanent jobs and 3,000 construction jobs. To support the City’s vision for affordable housing, over 20% of the new residential units will be affordable, work-force housing. The project also includes office and retail spaces with the goal of establishing a neighborhood community that integrates transit, affordable housing, green space, public art, and access to Whitehall Community Park, an 80-acre nature park that fronts Big Walnut Creek.
